Water protection

Industrial Computer DLoG MPC 6
Spray water test according to IP54

Water protection

Table 2: Water protection

2nd identifying digit

0 = no protection

1 = protected against dripping water (vertically falling drops)

2 = protected against dripping water when the housing is tilted up to 15° (vertically falling drops)

3 = protected against spray water (water at an angle of up to 60° on both sides)

4 = protected against spray water (water from any direction)

Industrial Computer DLoG MPC 6
Water jet test according to IP65

5 = protected against a water jet (water from any direction at approx. 12.5 liters/minute)

6 = protected against a strong water jet (water from any directionat at approx. 100 liters/minute)

7 = protected against the effects of temporary submersion in water

8 = protected against the effects of long-term submersion in water.

Example: IP x5 = protected against a water jet

In summary:

IP 54 = protected against dust and spray water from any direction

IP 65 = dust-tight and protected against a water jet from any direction (12.5 liters/minute)

For industrial applications in logistics and construction equipment environments, IP65 thus represents the most logical type of protection at the current time. However, our data does not release the customer from testing the suitability of the equipment for the area of use intended for it.

To the left are pictures of the official test method that is carried out and certified for DLoG at IABG.
